UNOPS, Canada hand over the renovated Lebanese Armed Forces Logistics Brigade Warehouse

04 February 2026

  • Beirut, February 4, 2026 – Representatives from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), the Government of Canada, the Canadian Embassy to Lebanon and UNOPS convened for the handing over of three rehabilitated warehouses to LAF.

This project represents a strategic and integrated intervention to strengthen Lebanon’s Army logistics and institutional capacity. At a time of unprecedented challenges, the rehabilitation of the LBS3 warehouse, the construction of a new basement, and the installation of upgraded operational systems contribute directly to enhancing the readiness and resilience of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Representative of the Interim Army Commander-In-Chief, Brigadier General Amine El Kai, said: “This project will significantly enhance our logistical capabilities in the storage, preservation, and effective use of equipment in support of operational and security missions. It represents a critical element in maintaining operational readiness, particularly in emergency situations.”

He added, “The project’s importance lies in its full compliance with the highest safety standards, establishing a model that can be replicated across warehouses in various military units.”

Gregory Galligan, Ambassador of Canada to Lebanon and Syria, said, “Canada is proud to support the Lebanese Armed Forces in building strong logistics systems that increase efficiency and capacity, ensuring essential supplies reach the right place at the right time. By investing in modern, sustainable infrastructure, we are helping strengthen the operational backbone of the LAF, today and for the future.”

Muhammad Usman Akram, Representative and Director of UNOPS Multi-Country Office in Amman, said:

“This project represents a strategic and integrated intervention to strengthen the Lebanese Armed Force’s logistics and institutional capacity under very challenging conditions.

... This new milestone is a testament to a strong partnership between the Lebanese Armed Forces, the Government of Canada, and UNOPS, in support of national stability and national security. With this initiative, we have not just rehabilitated physical infrastructure; we have collectively invested in systems, capacities, and people of a vital institution in Lebanon.”
