First National Urban Forum of Lebanon wraps up with tangible recommendations on Lebanese cities, transport, housing and energy
  • Beirut, 31 March 2022. After two days of urban deliberations, the first National Urban Forum of Lebanon, organized by UN-Habitat in partnership with ESCWA, concluded, confirming that the future socio-economic recovery and sustainable development of the country must place Lebanese cities at the heart of these efforts.

  • Beirut 5 April 2022 -- On 31 March 2022, the World Food Programme, working hand in hand with WHO, UNICEF, sector partners and OCHA, delivered the last drop of fuel as part of emergency fuel operations under the UN coordinated Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

“Plan Zero” to set the foundation for a more environmentally sustainable region : UN-Habitat joins forces with the private sector to reduce plastic and glass waste in the MENA region
  • Beirut, 11 April 2022 – In an effort to limit the environmental impact of plastic and glass waste in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, UN-Habitat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2021 with Development Inc., Diageo, IBI Group, Nestlé Waters and PepsiCo, to jointly promote sustainable waste management and responsible production and consumption within the private sector and general public.
