• Beirut, Lebanon 2 June 2022. In line with its mandated role to empower and strengthen good governance, and enhance capacities of local authorities, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Municipality of Beirut, to further expand their existing close partnership. The signing ceremony was held at the Municipality of Beirut and attended by the Governor of Beirut, Honourable Judge Marwan Abboud,  Mayor and members of the municipal council, as well as UN-Habitat Lebanon staff.

• Beirut, 10 June 2022 -- Today, UN-Habitat in the presence of Mihara Kiyoshi, representative of Ambassador of Japan to Lebanon; H.E. Przemysław Niesiołowski, Polish Ambassador to Lebanon; Mardig Boghossian, Mayor of Bourj Hammoud; and, Joanna Wronecka, United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, inaugurated five newly rehabilitated alleyways in Maraach, Bourj Hammoud.

• Beirut, 15 June 2022 – Based on recent assessments, 2.5 million people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance in Lebanon – vulnerable Lebanese, migrants, and Palestine refugees in Lebanon (PRL) – in addition to 1.5 million Syrian refugees. During meetings with the Lebanese Government, the Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, Mrs Najat Rochdi, has announced that Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF) has allocated US$16 million to scale up humanitarian response in Lebanon.

• BEIRUT, Lebanon, 20 June 2022– Prime Minister Najib Mikati, together with the Minister for Social Affairs Hector Hajjar and the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Najat Rochdi, today officially launched the 2022-2023 Lebanon Crisis Response Plan at the Grand Serail in Beirut, Lebanon.
