• Beirut, Lebanon – Monday 20 June 2022 (United Nations) – Lebanese Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri, and the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Mrs. Najat Rochdi, signed today a partnership compact between the Parliament and the UN Country Team in Lebanon (UNCT) to boost bilateral cooperation in key areas and achieve sustainable development.

• Beirut, 22 June 2022 – In line with its efforts to support municipalities and unions of municipalities in Lebanon, the Municipal Empowerment and Resilience Project (MERP), which is implemented jointly by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the European Union, organized on the 21 June 2022 a discussion at Kempinski Hotel in Beirut, around Regional Technical Offices (RTOs) and the support that RTOs can provide to municipalities and unions in this area. The discussion involved key stakeholders from the Director General of Local Administrations and Councils, unions of municipalities and municipalities from across Lebanon and key international stakeholders and development partners.

• Beirut, 24 June 2022 -- The International Support Group for Lebanon (ISG) takes note of the designation of a Prime Minister. It calls on all political actors to form a government quickly. With the severe economic and social challenges it faces, Lebanon and its citizens cannot afford political deadlocks. The ISG also emphasizes that it is important to adhere to the constitutional calendar in order for the presidential election to take place on time.

The United Nations is concerned about the rising hate speech, discrimination, and violence towards Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer (LGBTIQ+) individuals and organizations in Lebanon.

7 July 2022, United Nations -- The members of the Security Council took note of the appointment of Najib Mikati as the new designated Prime Minister on 23 June, as well as the presentation by the latter of his government line-up to the President of the Republic of Lebanon on 29 June.
