• 27 June 2024, Beirut — Under the patronage and presence of His Excellency the Minister of Public Health, Dr Firass Al-Abiad, and His Excellency Mr. Hervé Magro, Chargé d’Affaires of the French Embassy in Lebanon, the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Lebanon and with support from the Agence française de développement (AFD), officially launched the National Mental Health Strategy for Lebanon (2024-2030). The event took place at the École Supérieure des Affaires (ESA) in Beirut.

• Beirut, Lebanon, 23 July 2024 – The Arab Mayors Academy, a joint programme between United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) – Regional Office for Arab States, was officially launched today at the UN House in Beirut marking a significant milestone in the journey towards sustainable urban development in the Arab region. The academy aims to equip city leaders with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to effectively address urban challenges and leverage opportunities in their respective cities.

• Beirut, 25 July 2024 - The Embassy of Italy in Beirut, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) announced today an additional 2 million Euros contribution to the education sector in Lebanon to create a more conducive learning environment for students and teachers in Lebanon. 

• Beirut, 24 July 2024. Today, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon (SCL), briefed the UN Security Council, alongside UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix. The consultations followed publication of the latest report (S/2024/548) of UN SecretaryGeneral Antonio Guterres on the implementation of resolution 1701 (2006).
